The arrival of Divina Chua has caught everyone by surprise. Everyone and anyone from the Chua family and extended family members are staring at her as if to say they saw a ghost, which should come as no surprise because she is the half-sister of Leopoldo Chua, and this is the launch and groundbreaking ceremony of her late brother’s foundation. So, it does make sense that she should be there, but everyone does not welcome her presence. Despite that, proper respect is shown by Lily, Redmond, and others by making mano to Divina. And while she is being treated with dignity, she has some choice words for everyone present, as well as some sharp lines for Aurora, who appears surprised at best to see Divina.
Lily is there to tell Divina that she has repeatedly sent invitations to her to attend their events, functions, and family occasions, but she has never shown up. Then, Divina corrects Lily, stating that she is the true sister of Leopoldo Chua and that she has more right than anyone else to be present at this important event for his brother. For a change, Violet shows some manners, not only respect, and makes mano to Divina. To say this was an awkward reunion was an understatement for the Chua family.
Then we’re transported back to 1986 to a newlywed Leopoldo Chua and Aurora. We see Aurora opening a gift, a wrapped package from the post office that Divina had sent them as a wedding present. As soon as Aurora informs Leopoldo that this is from Divina, he advises Aurora to approach with caution in opening the package, and his intuition and gut feelings are right; Divina had sent them a black umbrella, which in Chinese customs and beliefs is a sign of bad luck because the word umbrella rhymes with separation or divorce in Filipino when both are translated. Aurora continues to open the black umbrella, ignoring Leopoldo’s stern warning and reassuring him that despite his superstitious beliefs, no matter if Divina has a witch doctor place a curse on them, can be countered by their love for each other, and they hug it out. That was a sweet and touching moment to end that scene between them.
In the present, we see Divina and Aurora talking to each other—well, not really, but more like mudslinging, but at least there is a line of communication between the two mortal enemies. Aurora wonders why Divina has shown up now. She informs Divina that she does not want more trouble, to which she clarifies that the problems already exist because of her and that her sole reason for attending the launch was that she heard her youngest step-niece, Iris, was home, and she wanted to meet her.
Soon after, we see the young ones (Petersen, Kayla, and Iris) approach Divina, their auntie, and show her respect by making mano to her. One by one, they introduced themselves, but as soon as it was the turn of Iris, it at once caught the attention of Divina, and she asked some questions about her mother, to which Iris gave her usual style of answering, which amused and made Divina laugh because here is Iris, who is a lot like her because she is unfiltered.
Divina sees a lot of herself in her youngest niece Iris, and she and the rest of the young ones leave and go their way, perhaps to talk to more people and for Divina to get to know all of them. Melanie, the photographer, requests that all the nieces and nephews present to take a group family picture with Divina, with Divina particularly pointing out Iris to the photographer and showing a clear liking to her because of her fiery personality. Melanie making eye contact with Divina raises some suspicion that something is happening here, which would explain why the photographer was so busy paying attention to Iris and the nieces and nephews earlier, as shown in the previous episode.
Seeing Divina getting along with the nephews and nieces pleasantly surprises Aurora, Felino, Lily, and Redmond, who watch her interact with them. Felino commends Aurora for handling the situation well, and before Aurora could question why Felino complimented her, he reminded her of an old, timeless saying: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Indeed, as shown in previous episodes, Felino is the voice of reason among them. He is the wisest and most level-headed among all of them.
Next scene, we see Iris talking to Divina; Petersen, Kenneth Chan, and Kayla are with them. Divina wants Iris’ phone number but is hesitant to give it to her at first. Divina finds a clever way to get the contact number of Iris whether she wanted to give it or not. Then, Divina asks Iris how Aurora treats her at her house, and she tells her that Aurora allows her to do whatever she wants. Here comes Aurora to see what is happening between them, but soon after, Iris tells Aurora that she, Kayla, and Petersen will be heading out, and despite Divina wanting to join them, she politely declines the request of Divina.
As soon as the young ones leave, Divina’s true colors emerge, as she is as disrespectful in reminding Aurora that she has not mentally changed and still thinks the same way she has always felt, despite all the money and wealth she has from her late brother.
In the next scene, we see Lily playing the piano, and while this is happening, we see the photographer, Melanie, is answering the call of Divina, who is still at the launch; there it is; apparently, she was sent by Divina to take photos and have hard evidence of how many children his late step-brother has from different women. This was not about the Leopoldo Chua Foundation building and honoring his legacy; the truth has come out, and the real agenda of Divina resurfacing into their lives was to reveal the “real legacy” of his late brother: the number of children he had with different women.
